Twitter Tutorial - Create and Use a Twitter Account

Page history last edited by betty.ray@edutopia.org 13 years, 8 months ago

Twitter is a free online chat tool that will help you communicate and connect with fellow campers.

Here are the steps to creating a Twitter account. If you are confused or have questions, please post them in the <TK GROUP>. Likewise, if you know the answer to someone else's question, please feel free to jump in and help them.

Creating a Twitter Account

1. Go to http://www.twitter.com and click “Sign Up”

2.  Enter your Full name, Username, Password and Email in the designated fields and click "Create my account."

3. Confirm that you are not a robot by entering the text presented.

4. Twitter will give you an opportunity to find people to follow in the next three stages.  We recommend you follow only a few people at this stage to keep your feed from getting overwhelming. It's better at this point to network with other pbl campers instead.

5. Once you've created your account, log in and say "hi!." You're on your way to starting your own personal learning network! (PLN)

PBL Camp uses the hashtag #pblcamp.

Hashtags enable conversations to be very focused on Twitter. If you would like to find and communicate with other PBL Campers, add the text "#pblcamp" (without the quotes) to your tweets that are related to the camp. If you go to Twitter.com and search for #pblcamp, you will find  only the others who are discussing PBL Camp. Once you find other campers, you may follow them by clicking the "follow" button underneath their photo on Twitter.com.
