Driving Question: Is oil worth it?

Project Based Learning: Students would research the multifaceted world of oil as it affects our society and its individuals in order to develop policy recommendations as to how it should be regulated, to what extent, and what alternatives exist in light of the economic and social repercussions that would arise if drilling were to stopped.  Then depending on our options, students could present at environmental conferences or send their proposals to various groups fighting for or against regulation.

Weekly Themes

Week One/Two: Oil as disaster
Week Three/Four: Oil as opportunity
Week Four/Five: Oil as lifestyle
Week Six/Seven: Oil as money

Hi Anna,
How lucky for you to have experienced PBL as a student! I like the idea of students presenting to policymakers. Have you ever seen the (now dated) video of Severn Suzuki presenting to the UN Earth Summit when she was about 12? Powerful stuff.
